The Tea Art

What do you think is the thing in my background?
… Just make a guess.
… Art? … Painting? …
Okay one more guess. Antique thing?
… Now you are close. But the answer is a bit twisted. This antique thing is also a tea. They call it Brick Tea: a special tea from Hubei Province. The post-fermented tea leaves are packed in molds and pressed into a block form. Initially, it was made for the convenience purpose during transportation. Later, it was discovered that the brick tea increases its flavor with time. The phenomenon is perhaps similar to that of a wine. They claimed that some Brick tea like this is more than a century old, still unconsumed. In ancient time, it was also used as a currency.
Not of this huge size but I was also gifted a miniature of this Brick Tea. Don’t know, should I brew it or use it to decorate my room.
