At the time when plastics and metals didn’t dominate the utensil-making materials, people used to store dairy products in Theki. It’s a vessel made by carving a log of wood. The vessel isn’t just used for the purpose of storage; rather it’s also used for extracting butter from milk. It’s a common scene to see grandma in rural Nepal churning curd in theki to extract butter.
As the use of plastic utensils got rampant, theki – which takes a lot of effort to make, is on verge of getting extinct.
