I remember my grandpa vaping hookah back in 1990s. It used to be a symbol of affluence back then. Not everyone could afford a hookah. Even for the smokers, if you are poor, you smoke bidi – a cigarette without a filter; and if you are opulent, hukkah is an important vessel in your home. It seems even a bad habit like smoking has a ‘class’, as delineated by long-beard guy Karl Marx.
Fast forward to today. As the party culture burgeoned in Nepal, vaping Hookah became a sort of fashion among youths. Not just boys, in fact, girls are more addicted to it. It’s like you might not be a smoker but vaping Hookah at times is okay. Smoke is, after all, a smoke – be it stem from cigarette or from fancy Hookah, it is destined to harm your lungs.
