When you are loitering around a beautiful place, you truly admire its ambience. But have you ever given a thought that your presence can disturb the pristine nature?
We go on a trek or a picnic and enjoy ourselves at the vicinity of the nature. If you don’t leave anything behind – besides your footprint, you are a responsible person. But if you are the person other way, you seriously need to stay at home, man.
Anyway, there are some good people who are your antitheses. They clean up the mess you have created and make it like nothing ugly had happened before.
Meet the Nature Guy from Charibhanjyang, Panchthar. He is an apprentice tea maker, working at Kalapani Tea Industry of Panchthar, Nepal. The industry got its name from Kalapani pond near it. The pond used to be a transit for quenching thirst of cattle and shepherd in the past, while shifting the herd as the season changes.
There are currently no nomads in the area. However, Kalapani is still important to the unwandering people like the Nature Guy. Afterall, it has given identity to the place where he works for.
When the picnickers leave the place, it has become common to see them leaving trashes around the pond. They have no idea who cleaned their mess when they come again to visit the place. It is unsung hero like the Nature Guy who collects the absurdities left by the holidaymakers.
He isn’t asked by anyone to clean the place; nor does he get any monetary benefits from the locals or his employers. He does it out of volition and anticipates nothing in return, except the expectation that the people coming there would show some civilization by not littering around.
If you visit the place like this next time, just remember this wonderful guy who is voluntarily cleaning the mess you will be creating.
